WriteLife Announces Spud as Part of Growing Library of Published Novels
(Omaha, NE; August 20, 2009) – WriteLife, LLC, a unique collaborative publishing company for fiction and non-fiction authors, announces the latest feature novel—Spud by Patricia Orvis. The book is available on the site at www.writelife.com and major online retailers such as Target, Barnes & Noble, and Amazon.
Spud is a fictional character based on the real-life Danny Hogg, a close family friend whose untimely accidental drowning had a profound impact on Orvis’ family and friends. The event serves as an inspiration for the book and serves as a tribute to Danny, where fictional characters, Jack and Spud Cooper are trying to keep cool in the Chicago heat wave of 1995. The events of one fateful day set in motion discoveries of life, love, support and coming of age.
“Writing is something I always wanted to do and have always been doing. The platform for Spud allowed me to create a story with human dynamics that everyone can relate to—teen issues and angst, and how an impulse decision at a point in time can have lifelong consequences,” stated author Patricia Orvis. “The story had been in my mind and really only took one summer to complete. The associates at WriteLife.com were a fantastic group of people and are truly dedicated to authors from the initial point of interaction.”
Orvis attended the University of Saint Francis in Joliet, Illinois, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a minor in English. As a school teacher in language arts/literature within a local school district, she devotes her time to writing music and poetry in addition to her short stories and novels. Orvis is currently working on her next novel entitled Keep the Peace.
The WriteLife.com Web site has attracted numerous authors due to its enhanced speed of collaborative publishing paired with the personal interaction; the combination has proved to be a successful approach for emerging and seasoned authors. WriteLife.com features writing tools for any age, with tailored navigation and publishing tools.
The author will be signing copies of the book at a local bookstore in Ottawa, Illinois, The Book Mouse, on September 19, 2009.
