Choosing Ideas to Write About | Organizing Your Writing | Giving Your Writing Your Voice | Choosing the Right Words | Conventions | Presentation

An idea is what makes the core of your book.   Once you have an idea, you can describe it by beginning with very general terms, and move to very specific details.  You can make your very unique ideas come alive in your book!

One way to choose an idea to write about is to think about yourself and your own thoughts. Is there anything you have been thinking a lot about?  What are some of the feelings you are having today?  Why not start your book today, and explore your thoughts? One idea might lead to the next, and pretty soon, your journal could become your autobiography!

Another way to start coming up with ideas is to think about a favorite place you have visited.  It can be a park, a parade, someone’s house, or a secret hiding place. Start by writing about your favorite place. What does it look like?  What are the smells?  How do you feel when you are there?
